Can RF View Load Multiple SNP Files at Once?
Yes. RF View's batch SNP function allows you to select and load multiple Touchstone files (any port count: .s1p, .s2p, .s3p, .s4p) simultaneously. All loaded files are displayed as overlaid traces on the same plot, each in a different auto-assigned color.
How Many Files Can Be Loaded Simultaneously?
RF View can handle tens of files in a single batch load session, making it practical for:
- Component lot acceptance testing (20–50 samples from one part number)
- Temperature sweep analysis (measurements at 5–10 temperature points)
- Multi-channel device comparison (8–16 channels)
- Design iteration comparison (5–10 design versions)
Performance scales with device memory — modern Android devices with 4+ GB RAM handle hundreds of files comfortably.
What S-Parameters Are Shown in Batch Mode?
You can select which S-parameter to display (S11, S21, S12, S22, etc.) in batch mode. All loaded files plot the selected parameter simultaneously. Switching between S-parameters (e.g., from S21 to S11) updates all traces instantly without reloading files.
How Do Pass/Fail Limit Lines Work?
In RF View, you can set upper and lower limit lines for the displayed S-parameter:
- Set an upper limit (maximum allowed value, e.g., −10 dB for return loss threshold)
- Set a lower limit (minimum required value, e.g., −1 dB for passband insertion loss)
- Traces that cross either limit line are highlighted — this provides instant go/no-go visual feedback
- Failed traces can be identified by their file names for follow-up action
Can I Export the Batch Comparison Results?
Yes. RF View exports batch comparison data as CSV files containing:
- Frequency column (in Hz, kHz, MHz, or GHz)
- One column per loaded file with the magnitude (dB) values
- Optional phase columns
The exported CSV is importable into Excel, Python (pandas), or MATLAB for further statistical analysis including mean, standard deviation, min, max, and Cpk yield calculations.
What Is the Difference Between Batch SNP and Normal SNP Loading?
| Feature | Normal Load | Batch Load |
|---|---|---|
| Files loaded | One at a time | Multiple simultaneously |
| Display | Single trace set | Overlaid multi-color traces |
| Limit lines | Available | Available with visual fail highlight |
| CSV export | Single file data | All files in one CSV |
| Best for | Detailed single-device analysis | Comparison, production testing, statistics |
Does RF View Work with .s3p and .s4p Batch Files?
Yes. RF View batch mode supports all standard Touchstone port counts. For .s3p or .s4p files, you select which specific S-parameter to display (e.g., S21 for all files, or S31 for all files). This is useful for comparing 3-port power dividers or 4-port duplexers across a production batch.
