The SNP Batch Challenge
RF engineering teams accumulate hundreds of Touchstone files from multiple VNAs, different measurement dates, multiple DUT configurations, and different frequency setups. Without standardization, comparing files becomes difficult and error-prone. RF View's Batch Converter addresses all these issues in one tool.
Complete Batch Workflow
Phase 1: File Collection and Organization
Create structured folder hierarchy:
/project_BPF_Band3/
/vendor_A/ (Murata S-parameters)
/vendor_B/ (Qorvo S-parameters)
/measurements/ (your VNA measurements)
/lot_20241015/
/lot_20241120/
/simulation/ (ADS or RF View sim outputs)
Phase 2: Format Standardization
- Select all files from all subfolders
- SNP Converter → Format Change → target: DB format
- RF View rewrites all to consistent DB format
- Verify: load original + standardized → traces coincide
Phase 3: Port Remapping (if needed)
If VNA connection was reversed (Output → Port 1, Input → Port 2): Apply uniform port swap to all measurement files: Port Change: P1↔P2 → apply to all /measurements/ files
Phase 4: Frequency Alignment
Manufacturer files: 100 MHz – 6 GHz, 1601 points Your VNA files: 1600 MHz – 2100 MHz, 401 points Resample manufacturer files to match your VNA range: Target: 1600–2100 MHz, 401 points, linear spacing Apply to all manufacturer files → now comparable on same grid
Phase 5: Analysis and Comparison
- Load all standardized files simultaneously in S-Parameter Plot
- Visual inspection → identify outliers
- Table Marker at spec frequencies → record all values
Phase 6: Summary Export
Batch Converter → Summary Export: Analysis frequencies: 1843 MHz (f₀), 1750 MHz (TX rejection) Output: one CSV row per file Open CSV in Excel → sort by IL → identify best vendor Plot: histogram of f₀ values → check lot-to-lot consistency
RF View Batch Workflow: All 6 phases supported in RF View's SNP Converter. Each phase handles unlimited files simultaneously. Complete data pipeline from raw measurements to qualification report. Free on Android.
