RF View Android App: Complete Feature Overview

Complete overview of RF View Android app features: SNP file analysis, Smith chart, impedance matching, batch processing, Monte Carlo simulation, and RF circuit simulation.

What Is RF View?

RF View is an Android application designed specifically for RF engineers. It provides comprehensive S-parameter analysis, Smith chart visualization, impedance matching, and circuit simulation capabilities on a mobile device — enabling RF work in the lab, field, and manufacturing floor without requiring a desktop computer.

Core Features

FeatureDescription
SNP File ReaderLoad .s1p, .s2p, .s3p, .s4p Touchstone files in MA, DB, RI formats
S-Parameter PlotsMagnitude (dB), phase, real, imaginary, group delay vs. frequency
Smith ChartInteractive normalized Smith chart with impedance readout at any frequency
Batch SNPLoad and overlay multiple SNP files for comparison and statistical analysis
Impedance MatchingL-network, T-network, Pi-network design from S-parameter data
Port AnalysisExtract and analyze any port from multi-port SNP files
Monte Carlo SimulationTolerance analysis with statistical yield estimation
RF Circuit SimulationCascade RF blocks: amplifiers, attenuators, filters from S-param data

Supported File Formats

  • .s1p: 1-port S-parameters (antenna, termination, probe)
  • .s2p: 2-port S-parameters (amplifiers, filters, cables, attenuators)
  • .s3p: 3-port (power dividers, circulators, diplexers)
  • .s4p: 4-port (duplexers, directional couplers, balanced devices)
  • MA, DB, RI data formats all supported automatically
  • Hz, kHz, MHz, GHz frequency units

Smith Chart Features

  • Normalized to 50 Ω (configurable reference impedance)
  • Simultaneous display of S11 and S22 trajectories
  • Tap-to-read impedance (R + jX) at any frequency
  • Constant resistance and reactance grid circles
  • Zoom into chart center for precise matched-network analysis

Batch Processing Workflow

RF View's batch SNP feature is particularly powerful for production testing and component qualification:

  1. Select 10–100 .s2p files from a single folder
  2. All files load simultaneously with automatic color assignment
  3. Set pass/fail limit lines — failing traces highlighted automatically
  4. Export results as CSV for integration with manufacturing databases
  5. View statistical spread (envelope of all traces) in a single screen

RF View is available for Android devices (Android 6.0+) on the Google Play Store. It is used by RF engineers worldwide for component characterization, production testing, field measurement analysis, and educational demonstrations of RF theory. The app continues to evolve with new features requested by the RF engineering community.
